Stand up Paddling whether it’s done in the ocean , river or lake is heralded as the fastest growing water sport in the world …Thats great to know if you’re already a Paddler . However for those who don’t know what stand up Paddling is , can this be another claim on an unknown sport which seems to be a mixture of canoeing, surfing and punting.
Regardless of what element of the sport you have a fascination for, be it waves , coastal touring or recreational paddling on a river or lake is hard not to notice how as a new sport how easy SUP is as a novice to master.
It seems every surf orientated brand the world over has a SUP range of some sort now , from boards to Paddles to a range of accessories aimed at the ‘Stand up aficionado’.
If you are keen to give the sport a go it’s important to get some basic instruction from a qualified and insured Instructor , but by far the more important make sure they have some ‘SUP experience’.
The sport is growing fast and although it may look simple just a few tips from someone who has ‘been there and done that’ are essential to an individual gaining the knowledge before venturing out alone on a floating piece of foam.
