The Event Schedule:
Race courses:
Race courses will be dependent on conditions on the day – there are 2 options (A & B)
OPTION A – 5.1KM
OPTION B – 6.82KM
12’6 & 14’0 Elite GWYR Paddler – option ‘A’
Racers will paddle around the outside of the 4 buoy course markers of the first lap, the 2nd lap consists of a 3 buoy course (2,3,4), on the final lap of the 3 buoy course , on reaching the beach at the end of the final lap, racers will un-attach themselves from their leash, run around the beach flag . They will return to their waiting board, re-attach their leash and continue to round buoy 1 and back to finish for a run to the finish. Their position and time will be qualified once they cross the line between the flags.
Cruiser Fun Race – option ‘A’
The 4 buoy Course starts from the beach and upon reaching the end of lap 3 at the shore flag they will un-attach themselves from their leash and run up the beach, run around the turn flag and back to their waiting board to continue to round buoy 1 and back to finish.
Detailed schedule of the event:
Saturday 16th August
Registration: 10am – 11.00am on Port Eynon Bay Beach at the Green North Kiteboarding Tent on the beach- Everyone must be registered by 11am
Race Brief: 11am – ALL competitors must attend race briefing which will be held at the Event site Tent on the beach.
11.30pm – Cruiser Fun Race Start: 1.5 km – Race time approx. 40mins
All Cruiser Class competitors will race together, although Men & Women will be scored and placed separately.
12.30pm – 12’6 Race Start: – Race time approx. 50min
Men & Women will race together in each board class. Start sequence will consist of women first, followed by men 6 minutes after.
1.30pm – 14’0 Race Start: – Race time approx. 45mins
Men & Women will race together in each board class. Start sequence will consist of women first, followed by men 6 minutes after.
2.30pm Kids race – A short lap of the course
4.30pm ‘SHOAL OF BASS – SUP fishing competition’ – Biggest haul wins. (pending suitable conditions)
5-6pm Prizes and Awards
The Evening After Party: There will be a BBQ & Band – ‘Shoal of Bass’ hosted by The Ship Inn in Port Eynon (under new management) details will be announced on Facebook – www.facebook.com/supgower

Event Safety
Langland & Port Eynon bay Life saving club will be providing primary water cover on the day. Two IRB’s will also be present – All powered watercraft will be have VHF radio communications. Beach event safety will also be monitored with Langland beach RNLI Lifeguards throughout the day.
By starting the race it is the competitors responsibility to appropriately assess that their paddling capabilities exceed or match local sea states and weather conditions – by taking part in this event competitors does so at their own risk and are therefore capable of completing the designated course.

I’ve had a 11 foot sup board a couple of months and considering coming to your gower event. If I wanted to have a race. Do I go in the fun race at 10.30.
Do you permit masters to race. I am a fit 54 year old.
