I’m 14 stone , and usually ride smaller lower volume boards around 120 Litres
The 9’2 Fanatic Allwave SUP on first impressions is a big wide and solid looking board with thick rails and great aesthetics.
On a recent trip to Morocco I had the opportunity to test ride the board in some clean 2-3ft waves and below is my honest opinion and some pictures.

The 9’2 would not be my usual preference for a stand up paddle board , it looks to have too much volume for aggressive cutbacks and performance wave riding.
However this is a deceiving board and Fanatic’ s leading shaper Sebastian Wenzel has done some great things to make this big looking board perform really well in a variety of conditions.
I believe the boards secret is the rocker line , a superb blend of flattish nose rocker with some nose scoop helping make wave takeoffs easier to manage no matter how skilled you are. The tail lift and swallow tail gives a performance feel in juicy wave conditions.

The fat rails although looking boxy work very well with the single to double concace bottom contour shape to sit the board high on the wave face giving speed and lift, its suprising how much speed can be generated !
With all these elements working together you have a board range which is stable in flat water, can be ridden traditionally to suit the longboard fanatics through to the advanced paddlers who want a board easy enough to make even the poor wave days feel fun, i’m all ‘PRO’ the Allwave.
‘MY HONEST CON’
The board can feel a little tippy in choppy conditions , but I feel this is down to the small 5’8″ rear fin which is supplied with the board. The futures fin sides and mini longboard box enable you to customise your ideal fin setup.
I weigh 14 stone dry and feel the 9’2 board model could accommodate more weight as long as the paddler was relatively accustomed to stand up paddling.
The Allwave range from Fanatic also features a 8’6, 8’10, 9’6 & 9’10 models so no matter what standard you are , you can choose a board to suit your weight and ability.
