DOWNWINDERS are great fun, Myself and Tim tried one on the Gower peninsula the other week. The coastline around the Gower is a fantastic place to walk but viewed even better from the sea.
We paddled from Oxwich bay to Caswell bay a distance of just over 9 kilometres in around 2 hours at a leisurely pace with a 12-15mph South west breeze and a 6 ft swell running. We caught some glides off Pwlldu Point as the swell is protected by Oxwich point until this area, however it was choppy!
We padded with Floatation vests and a Mobile phone for safety.
