Surf and sail Stand up journal is a US publication which has been writing and documenting some great Stand up surfing pictures and articles.
I just thought I would post a link and let readers know that a subscription to the magazine is a great way to stay connected with how SUP is being received and embraced in Hawaii and the states. This is what Stand up journal has to say-

“Every issue of Standup Journal is a photo annual, a celebration of those gifted water brothers and sisters who are torn between playing on the water or “working” on it… thankfully for those sharing our kindred love of standup paddling, windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing they choose to create images when the light, action…and ‘awe’ are just right.”

With pictures like these ! and if standup is your thing, I dont know why you would’nt subscribe!!

Men’s Health Canal Challenge 2008
paddle start

On the 16th December 2008 ‘Canal Walk’ nestled beneath the world famous Table Mountain came alive for Stand UP paddleboard racing at it’s best as 45 of South Africa’s Top Male, Female and junior paddlers battled it out to win this prestigious event.
With a price worth R10 000 from Men’s Health and sponsorship put on from COREBAN the racing was Red Hot..!
SUP gower rider ‘Jason bighair bergin’ away on his winter kitesurf pilgrimage was there to take part and finished a very respectful 4th overall in both the sprints and distance paddling events.
JASON on Gower

The great thing about the day is that all proceeds were donated towards Ikahya Le Themba a non profit organization supporting Aids orphans. A race with a cause!
The day was perfect in all aspects. Summer sun with a light breeze to keep everybody cool. The racing was red hot with the Ladies 1.5km endurance race up first followed by the Juniors. The Men battled it out with a 2km endurance race followed by man on man heats to determine the ultimate winner of the Men’s Health Canal Challenge.
This is what Jason had to say ” The day was a great experience, nice warm weather and great competitors. We are hoping to bring the Mens Health SUP challenge to the U.K in locations such as Bath NE somerset (avon) and Swansea south wales (Tawe) keep paddling”

Well done jas, a happy new year to you !!
